I'm so excited to read and build with your child! This class with give your child a chance to be social with other children and share a love of LEGO! Each class your child may bring a LEGO creation they have made to the camp to share. We will start each class sharing creations we have made. We will share for the first 7 min of class. Then we will read together. We will read three different LEGO stories. These LEGO stores are at about a second grade reading level. We will take turns reading and talking about the text to improve comprehension. We will spend about 10 min reading. If a child does not want to read that is not a problem, they are free to listen to others read. No need to have the book! I will share my screen so your child can read from the screen. Finally we will end each class with a building challenge. Student are asked to bring a handful of LEGO to class. Each class we will have a different challenge of something to build. The students will have two minutes to build and then share their creation with other students. Then we will spend the last 5 min of the class sharing what we have made. I have my bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. I'm certified to teach reading in the state of Michigan to students in grades k-8. Over the past 10 years, I have helped many students improve their reading skills. I have taught students in America and also in Thailand.
Reading should be fun! Learning to read should also be fun! I hope to create an environment that students are excited to come to. When students are excited about reading, their reading skills will soar.
