Beginner Level
Let's build Legos with Teacher John! A beginner's class for learners to have fun building with Legos and socializing with online classmates. For this one-time class, we plan to build: Pyramid Cactus Snake Flower. Legos, Duplo or similar bricks are okay. It is okay to not have the colors of the objects/animals in the classes. The main goal is to accomplish the pyramid, and as time permits/allows we will aim to build the extra objects. Our class is for the very beginner, but all levels are welcome from beginner to advanced. Learners are welcome to free-build and choose alternatives to the theme. Learners are also welcome to draw in class if needed. We'll talk briefly about the topic/theme and I'll give a demonstration of the steps as we progress. My goal is to build without having to borrow from the previously built topic. For instance, I’d like to have the pyramid be “finished” and then move on to the next topic such as a flower. But - it is quite okay if learners need to borrow bricks, plates, or other pieces to continue building the next topic. If some learners finish early, I may instruct them to add some details to it or to draw while others catch up. Every class is different and I get a feel for how to adjust in the moment. If we use a timer, it will be a guide and not a deadline to finish each build. This class will be structured somewhat different from my other classes. While we will build our best using the Legos/Blocks that learners have in front of them, I recommend to consider having: Several 2X2 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X2 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) Several 2X4 Lego/Duplo Bricks 2X4 (20 to 30 or more would be ideal, but we can use less if needed) It is okay to mix and match colors and have variations and it’s okay to color instead. This class encourages learners to talk about a different way of building from my instruction and it is okay to have variation in the final product. Each learner will make their own unique contribution. See you in class! Teacher John
Learning Goals
To build a Lego Pyramid using stacking techniques, though leaners are allow to make each build their own creation. Also, to socialize with other learners and contribute their techniques to the class. Time permitting we will build the other objects in the desert.
