Beginner Level
In this class, learners will focus on CVC words. CVC words are essential to learning how to transform sounds into words. This phonemic awareness skill is critical for learning how to blend and read. Learn how to read CVC words by blending letter sounds, engaging activities, games, and repetition. This class will run for twenty weeks and will engage your child in learning essential blending and word recognition skills. Learning the CVC words will significantly improve your child's ability to read. The first class each week will be structured as follows: Introductions and Welcome with fun games. The teacher will explicitly teach the content. We will practice through games and activities that support learning the CVC words and blending, a weekly poem, word search activities, and word cards. We will read a word family reader in class each week to support the specific words we are learning. Students will practice writing CVC words, reading CVC words, and reading simple sentences. Each week, the second class will review the previous class content and reinforce learning through games, practice, and fun activities. Students will also practice reading simple sentences with the readers' CVC words and sight words. Students will be encouraged to participate, and we will practice taking turns with activities and games. The teacher will use various teaching methods, including games, slides, whiteboards, and reading materials. All students will need a whiteboard, and dry-erase marker, and an eraser for each class. Class is taught by a licensed and experienced Early Childhood and Elementary Education Teacher with teaching experience in Preschool and Kindergarten with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in STEAM Education and certification in Online Teaching and Learning.
