***NEW SECTIONS START SOON!!!*** This on-going reading series will help students grow a love for history and stories with an interactive reading of the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne! Classes meet THREE times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays! A NEW BOOK EACH WEEK! Ahoy, Young Historians! Welcome to THE MAGIC TREE HOUSE! Join me on a weekly adventure with Jack and Annie in the Magic Tree House as we explore history through an interactive reading of Mary Pope Osborne's classic series! If your child is experiencing difficulty "paying attention" during story time than this is the class for you! During each session, learners will listen to a dramatic reading of that week's selected book. Students will be asked questions about themes, characters, settings, and HISTORY as they discuss the book. As learners listen-along with each tale, we will stop after each chapter to discuss important topics! Classes are designed to be fun and entertaining, allowing young readers to immerse themselves within the stories and focus their energies on the development of crucial comprehension skills. Increased listening and reading comprehension has been proven to increase student abilities in both language arts and the sciences by allowing learners to access a wider array of cognitive reasoning skills developed through simple entertainment of reading! This class focuses on harboring a love for reading by allowing students to develop a relationship with their reading material through social interaction. The goal is to instill a love for reading at an early age with a strong focus on comprehension. By captivating readers' interest through a dramatic reading of the narrative, timid readers can begin to strengthen their reading comprehension skills and concentrate their energies on understanding the structural elements of the story. Stories will be read aloud to the learners using a variety of character voices and analog sound effects. This type of reading goes beyond mere "story time" and helps young readers to focus on the underlying emotional/historical subtexts within each narrative. Learners are encouraged to ask questions during the reading to enhance their understanding of the story. As reading comprehension develops, these questions will gradually become more complex and young readers harness the power of their own (super hero voice) CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS! I work hard to cater to the needs of each of my learners to promote their reading comprehension and creativity skills, while offering a fun environment to play and learn together! Physical/Digital copies of the books are not required for this course. Utilizing Zoom's "share screen" feature, I am able to share the contents of each book directly on the screen. I look forward to meeting all of my young historians and adventurers!! ************************************************************************************************************************************************ ***FALL SCHEDULE*** ************************************************************************************************************************************************ NEW SECTIONS --Sections Beginning at 11:00am; 11:30am PST-- Week of September 4: Magic Tree House #1 - Dinosaurs Before Dark Week of September 11: Magic Tree House #2 - The Knight at Dawn Week of September 18: Magic Tree House #3 - Mummies in the Morning Week of September 25: Magic Tree House #4 - Pirates Past Noon Week of October 2: Magic Tree House #5 - Night of the Ninjas Week of October 9: Magic Tree House #6 - Afternoon on the Amazon Week of October 16: Magic Tree House #7 - Sunset of the Sabertooth Week of October 23: Magic Tree House #8 - Midnight on the Moon Week of October 30: Magic Tree House #9 - Dolphins at Daybreak Week of November 6: Magic Tree House #10 - Ghost Town at Sundown Week of November 13: Magic Tree House #11 - Lions at Lunchtime Week of November 20: Magic Tree House #12 - Polar Bears Past Bedtime Week of November 27: Magic Tree House #13 - Vacation Under the Volcano Week of December 4: Magic Tree House #14 - Day of the Dragon King Week of December 11: Magic Tree House #15 - Viking Ships at Sunrise Week of December 18: Magic Tree House #16 - Hour of the Olympics ****************************************************************************************** CONTINUING SECTIONS ****************************************************************************************** ---Section beginning at 1:00pm PST--- Week of May 22: Magic Tree House #11 Lions at Lunchtime Week of May 29: Magic Tree House #12 Polar Bears Past Bedtime Week of June 5: Magic Tree House #13 Vacation Under the Volcano Week of June 12: Magic Tree House #14 Day of the Dragon King Week of June 19: Magic Tree House #15 Viking Ships at Sunrise Week of June 26: Magic Tree House #16 Hour of the Olympics Week of July 3: Magic Tree House #17 Tonight on the Titanic Week of July 10: Magic Tree House #18 Buffalo Before Breakfast Week of July 17: Magic Tree House #19 Tigers at Twilight Week of July 24: Magic Tree House #20 Dingoes at Dinnertime Week of July 31: Magic Tree House #21 Civil War on Sunday Week of August 7: Magic Tree House #22 Revolutionary War on Wednesday Week of August 14: Magic Tree House #23 Twister on Tuesday Week of August 21: Magic Tree House #24 Earthquake in the Early Morning ***************************************************************************************************************************** ---Section Beginning at 5:00pm PST--- Week of August 28: Magic Tree House #22 Revolutionary War on Wednesday Week of September 4: Magic Tree House #23 Twister on Tuesday Week of September 11: Magic Tree House #24 Earthquake in the Early Morning Week of September 18: Magic Tree House #25 Stage Fright on a Summer Night Week of September 25: Magic Tree House #26 Good Morning, Gorillas Week of October 2: Magic Tree House #27 Thanksgiving on Thursday Week of October 9: Magic Tree House #28 High Tide in Hawaii
