US Grade 2 - 3
This class is all about the American Girl Doll Kirsten Larsen! In this 3 week class, student will enjoy learning about pioneer life in 1854, while also learning about the American Girl Doll Kirsten. In addition, the students will enjoy learning about the country Sweden and what is was like to immigrant to the United states in 1854. The students do not have to pre-read the books before class! We will learn about her journey to America, and finally we will learn all about life in 1854 in America as a pioneer girl! We will end the class by making rag dolls just like Kirsten would have had! It is recommended that a parent help with the last class in making rag dolls if the child has difficulty tying.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to identify Where Sweden is on a World Map. They will be able to identify some main facts about Sweden while filling out a worksheet. 
The Students will be able to identify Where America is on a World map, as well as Minnesota. The student will be able to explain what the journey from Sweden to America was like in 1854. 
The students will be able to explain what life as a pioneer child was like in America in 1854. We will talk about life as a pioneer child. Lastly, the students will make rag dolls like Kirsten had.

Parental Guidance
*When learning about the year 1854, I do understand that Indigenous People were displaced by settlers moving west. I also understand that this issue can be a sensitive subject. I plan to answer any questions in a caring and kind way, making sure to stay fact based.
Supply List
Class 1: there will be 1 worksheet that parents can print
Class 2: there will be 2 worksheets that parents can print
Class 3: Fabric (12X12 square for body, 3X6 for apron, 3X3 for the bonnet), cotton, twine and scissors
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
