This class is all about the American Girl Doll Kirsten Larson! In this 3 week class, student will enjoy learning about pioneer life in 1854. We will end the class by making rag dolls just like Kirsten would have had!

Class experience

US Grade 2 - 3
Students will be able to identify Where Sweden is on a World Map. They will be able to identify some main facts about Sweden while filling out a worksheet. 
The Students will be able to identify Where America is on a World map, as well as Minnesota. The student will be able to explain what the journey from Sweden to America was like in 1854. 
The students will be able to explain what life as a pioneer child was like in America in 1854. We will talk about life as a pioneer child. Lastly, the students will make rag dolls like Kirsten had. 
I already taught this class for my daughter's homeschooling co-op class, and It was very well received! My children love American Girl Dolls and their books. I love teaching History, so it is a perfect match!

Class 1: there will be 1 worksheet that parents can print
Class 2: there will be 2 worksheets that parents can print
Class 3: Fabric (12X12 square for body, 3X6 for apron, 3X3 for the bonnet), cotton, twine and scissors 
*When learning about the year 1854, I do understand that Indigenous People were displaced by settlers moving west. I also understand that this issue can be a sensitive subject. I plan to answer any questions in a caring and kind way, making sure to stay fact based. 
I am using the main book "Welcome to Kirsten's World of 1854: Growing up in  Pioneer America"
