Learning History With American Girl Doll Addy Walker

This class is all about the American Girl Doll Addy Walker! In this 3 week class, students will learn about the Civil War and the Underground Railroad. I will introduce the students to Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Tubman. We will also discuss what Addy's life was like in Philadelphia after her and Momma found freedom. Students will be able to explain the Civil War, the underground railroad, and what life was like as a free slave in 1864.
I am a certified K-6 teacher with a minor in Early Childhood Development. I also am an avid History lover, who has over 10 years experience teaching History to my own children. Since this is a class for younger children, we will only discuss age appropriate facts related to the Civil War and Underground Railroad.

Students will need: Worksheets that will be posted in the classroom. pencil, crayons or markers flour salt water old make-up (that can be used to paint the bread. This makes the bread look very realistic! I recommend brown tones!) clear nail polish
