In this 5 week class we will dive into Ancient Rome and learn more about Julius Caesar, Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, the Colosseum, and all while having some hands on fun! This class is a great addition to homeschool or in-school curriculum.

This class will explore Ancient Rome and dive deeper into Ancient Roman customs and some individuals from that time. I have been a teacher on Outschool since 2020 and I teach on 2 additional online platforms. I have a biology background, however, I studied US and World History for 3 years in college, as well as 2 years of Chinese. I have also trained in a non-credited format, for many years, with an author and speaker who specializes in teaching children character qualities. I have always enjoyed teaching. My first teaching position was in Moscow, Russia, teaching English as a second language. Since then, I’ve taught in various settings which include a cooperative, a preschool, and as a tutor in the areas of math, science, and English. I also am a homeschool mom! I have taught this class to different groups at a cooperative, for both lower and upper elementary students. I enjoy teaching a subject or principle and including different areas of study along with the original idea.

While not designed for any needs, I do understand various types of learning and learning needs. This is why I include different ways to deliver materials and instructions.
Students will need a copy of the book, which I will email a list to parents after enrollment. Books can be downloaded on a Kindle device instantly, purchased directly, or borrowed from the library. Students will also need supplies for their projects. Depending on what they want to do, most supplies will be on hand, such as paper, cardboard, glue, crayons, scissors... and if they'd like to just write a poem or build with legos... that is just as good!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Multiple Roman gods, gladiatorial battles, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and the death of Julius Caeser... will be discussed. These could be sensitive subjects for some, however, the topics are discussed in an age appropriate way. Also, the art work of Sandro Botticelli, The Birth of Venus, is briefly (approx. 2 seconds) shown. This depicts Venus nude on a clamshell, though most of her is covered by her hair or hands.
