Learning long vowel sounds and their many spellings is critical to solving the reading puzzle! In this week long course, the following sounds/patterns will be taught: -Day 1: Long a spelled a, ay, ea, ei, and ey. -Day 2: Long e spelled e, ea, ee, ie, y, and ey. -Day 3: Long i spelled i, y, igh, and ie. -Day 4: Long o spelled o, oa, ow, and oe. -Day 5: Long u spelled u_e, ew, ue, and u. Students will be able to identify the long a, e, i, o, and u sounds by reading and writing words with these sounds.
There will not be homework.
Something to write with/on (ie; paper/pencil, dry erase board/marker).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Student progress will be assessed on their ability to read the words and write the words (they will be given an opportunity to demonstrate both during the lesson).
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
