Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
"Tinkercad is a free, easy-to-use web app that equips the next generation of designers and engineers with the foundational skills for innovation: 3D design, electronics, and coding!" From the Tinkercad website.

In this class, your learner will have an overview of what is CAD (Computer Aided Design) and how the Tinkercad program can help them with their 3D modeling. We will work together to learn the program, and then create a few practice designs before creating our final design which can be printed at home, school or local libraries. Students in the past have created trinkets based on popular Anime shows, and video games such as Fortnite, Animal Crossing, Among Us, Zelda, and Roblox. Learners are only limited by their imagination!

Day one- We will spend 5 minutes getting to know each other, and our skill levels, making sure we all have access to Tinkercad from my safe educator account. (Or from your personal account if you have one).

We will then take a few hands-on mini-lessons using the Tinkercad program, and practice modeling a few 3D objects.

Once we feel comfortable with our 3D modeling skills we will begin working on our final design first practicing good design skills and then beginning our project with my assistance as needed.

Days two and three- We will finalize our design and then take a tour of the bonus "secret tools of Tinkercad".

My goal is for your child to have fun, and learn valuable skills (CAD technology is essential for many future careers). We will also learn about problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and perseverance.

I look forward to teaching your learners these highly valuable creative life skills!
