In this small group class of no more than 3 students, we will meet for 4 weeks to learn the 3 rules to handwriting, identify errors in our own writing, and practice good legibility while exploring a new theme each week.

Learners will complete a pre-assessment during our first session and a post-assessment at the end of our last session. These writing samples can be compared to determine progress.Class Experience

Intermediate Level
This class is led by a retired occupational therapist. It is a small group class designed for learners who can already write simple sentences but struggle specifically with legibility. Each week we will discuss the rules to neat handwriting, identify the most common legibility errors on pre-written sentences, and use games and interesting subjects to practice our handwriting and work on improving legibility.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to state the 3 rules of handwriting
Students will be able to find mistakes in written text.
Students will improve overall legibility when comparing pre- and post-assessments.

How to Have Neat Handwriting: Overview
In this first class we will do a pre-assessment writing sample, learn the 3 rules to writing neatly, identify errors on prewritten sentences, and practice using the 3 rules while playing a game of Would You Rather. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Quick Review of Letter Formation- Play a Game
In this session we will look at common letter formation errors and reversals. We will identify legibility errors on prewritten sentences. We will then play a game while focusing on legibility and ways to practice common mistakes. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
The Rule of Spacing-Exploring Weird Facts
In this session we will focus on spacing within and between words while exploring weird facts. We will also practice writing speed and self-correction. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Writing Review & Weird Animal
In our last session, we will watch a video on a unique animal and practice taking notes and completing a worksheet. We will also complete a post-assessment. 30 mins online live lesson
Other Details
Pre-Requisites
1. Recognize and write all letters of the upper and lowercase alphabets.
2. Write a short 4-5 word sentence in less than a minute (doesn't have to be legible).
