This self paced class is perfect for learning the step by step process of creating an intermediate level Standing Dragon with clay. This class is Level 2, it is highly recommended to take Level 1 Sleeping Dragon prior to this class.

This class covers the usage of tools, supplies, conditioning the clay medium, and creating proportionate sections by eye. Tips and tricks are included as well.

Students will learn the steps needed to create each portion of your adorable miniature Dragons. First, we will condition, cut, roll and form our pieces. Then we will assemble our body parts and get them prepared to be baked after class is over. Students may personalize their dragons after the basic steps and proportions are learned.

While I will be using Polymer Clay to be baked in the oven, learners may use whichever sculpting medium they are comfortable with. This is a good introduction for using Polymer clay, if the learner decides to continue their baked clay journey.

The supplies that are recommended:
Polymer Bake Clay (any brand you prefer. I like to use Sculpey III).
*In total, approximately 2oz. of clay is plenty!*
Whatever colors you want for your dragon. At least one main color and an accent color.
Note: I often use Translucent polymer clay for wings, but you can use any color you wish.

Basic Sculpting tools: Something for smoothing pieces together, rolling, cutting, and a dotting tool (or end of small paintbrush) for eye sockets

1/2 of a wood toothpick OR 1" metal wire to attach head to body

OPTIONAL: Small/Medium GLASS beads/crystals for eyes (4.0 size works nicely). Larger glass bead, marble or gemstone for holding (as in samples)

A Baking sheet covered in parchment or aluminum foil

A non stick surface to work on (You can cover a piece of cardboard with parchment paper and tape it to the bottom…that works)

OPTIONAL: Clear water based glaze for after baking

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You may do this after class. Parental help is necessary.
