Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner Level
In this eight week class learners will be introduced to phonics sounds and patterns that will help them on their journey to independent reading. We will meet twice a week for half an hour at a time.

The class will start with phonemic awareness practice. This five minute practice has been shown to help students unlock the magic of reading. Following the phonemic awareness practice, learners will be introduced to the skill for the day! The skills for each day will be outlined below. After the skill introduction, learners will practice the skill for the day in both reading and writing. If time permits, we will play a game for further practice of the skill.

In order for students to be successful with this class, it is important that they are able to identify letters, know the sounds letters make including short vowel sounds.
