In this eight week class learners will be introduced to phonics sounds and patterns that will help them on their journey to independent reading. We will meet twice a week for half an hour at a time. The class will start with phonemic awareness practice. This five minute practice has been shown to help students unlock the magic of reading. READ! Any book will do, but I will send a digital copy of the book we will read together for you to read together as a family. Give your learner an opportunity to read it to you. The decodable book will take approximately 10 minutes to read together!
Students will need something to write with and something to write on!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed in a variety of ways throughout the lesson. Progress can be communicated by request.
