Learners are "assessed" through game play. Please contact me if you'd like additional assessment opportunities.Class Experience
This engaging, high-energy class is designed to help young learners move from recognizing letter sounds to reading simple words. Over eight sessions, we will focus on developing the core skills needed to read CVC words (like cat, mop, sun). Throughout the course, we will focus on hearing the sounds in words, making the sounds to read them, and unlocking the building blocks for early reading success. Since this is a self-paced class, no live meetings are included. Instead, I will upload two short video lessons each week. Learners will also have access to online word sorts, games, and activities via genial.ly and Kahoot. I will also send hands-on materials to support your learner in practicing blending and creating CVC words. Parents play a key role in this learning journey, and I love creating materials that help make learning to read enjoyable for both learners and their parents. My goal is to provide engaging activities that make reading come alive for little ones! Learners are encouraged to share videos of their practice sessions and ask for any tips or support they need along the way. I’ll also provide physical word sorts and other activities, and learners can upload photos of their completed work to share with the class. All supplementary materials will be provided each week at no additional cost to enhance both in-class and at-home learning.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to read CVC words, blend and segment the sounds in those words, and demonstrate strong phonemic awareness skills.
