When learning to read is fun, kids don't just LEARN to read, they learn to LOVE to read! This class is designed to give children with some beginning reading skill a chance to practice what they already know, as well as to introduce new words and concepts. We do this through games, songs, and fun activities, all with the goal of building a solid foundation for beginning readers.
While the kids are having a blast in class, here are the skills that they will be working on:
• Common Word Families
• Beginning Sight Words
• Short Vowel CVC Words
• CCVC and CVCC Words
• Blends
• Digraphs
Wondering what a month in this class might look like? Here's an example:
• Week One: -At word family, sight words: come & on
• Week Two: "Short a" blends/digraphs, sight word review: come & on
• Week Three: -Ad word family, sight words: make & said
• Week Four: More "short a" blends/digraphs, sight word review: make & saidOther Details
