What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Prerequisite: Students should know at least 20 out of 26 letter sounds to get the most out of this class. Students should also be able to sound out a cvc word when it is seen independently. At the beginning of our lesson, we will review the sounds for all 26 letters. Then, students will be introduced to the book. We will learn the various parts of a book including the front cover, back cover, page numbers, etc. On each page, we will discuss the picture before reading the text. Each student will have the opportunity to read a loud. Students will identify periods and exclamation points when we see them in the text. This will help students progress to read fluently and with expression. Through out the lesson, I will check for understanding by asking questions where the answer is found directly in the text. At the end of our lesson, students will be introduced to the [-at] word family. Students will be guided to hear the rhyming pattern of the word family. The words in this story include consonant-vowel-consonant (cvc) words, vowel-consonant (vc) words, and simple sight words: the, with, little, she, a, like, me. PLEASE NOTE: 1) All students' will be muted to limit background noise. However, though out the lesson, students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and understandings. 2) Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so I can focus on the learners who are present. Absent learners can view the recording to see what was missed. 3) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. Please let me know if you have any questions.
