In this one-time class, students will learn how to paint a festive Christmas wreath, perfect as a decoration or as a gift! I will take students step by step through the completion of the painting. We will start by painting the background, and then the wreath and finally, the bow on top! Because this is an art class, I will largely be demonstrating what to do and students will follow along. However, students are welcome to stop me if they need extra help or if they feel we are moving too fast. This class will be a relaxed, sociable environment so students are encouraged to talk both to each other and to the instructor after instruction is given. I will keep the class moving by regrouping frequently to check progress. Along the way, we will talk about holiday traditions, memories, etc. No prior painting experience is required.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to paint a festive Christmas wreath using acrylic paint on canvas.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! I am so excited to learn with you! You can catch me teaching a variety of classes from preschool circle time to Disney princess makeup tutorials. I also love teaching art classes such as painting and drawing. Hope you'll join me sometime!
I graduated with both an AA and BA in Liberal Studies with the intention of being an elementary school teacher. After my daughter was born, I took a different route and decided to try my hand at preschool and fell in love! Unfortunately, my preschool was shut down due to the pandemic. Since then, I've enjoyed learning new skills as a book-keeper, and preschool tutor on the side. During my time in college, I enjoyed teaching Chinese children English via another online platform. I've also spent a ton of time volunteering and observing in classrooms. I have also been a substitute teacher for K-12th grade, including special education! Interestingly, I used to teach painting classes for my city's recreation department, both for children and adults.
Spending lots and lots of time pondering my teaching philosophy in college, I've concluded one thing. My goal as an educator is simply to give my students the tools they need to become lifelong learners. No matter the subject matter being taught or the age of the learner, being willing try, fail, and grow is an invaluable skill!
Here's a fun fact about me! I used to work as a(n unofficial) Disney princess. I worked for a company where we would transform into princesses and perform at children's birthday parties, parades and other special events. Needless to say, I am a HUGE Disney fan!
Can't wait to see ya in the classroom!
