Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Intermediate Level
In this ONE-TIME class students will learn to draw a realistic portrait of a horse. using graphite pencils. They will learn basic facial proportions, including the placement of eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Students will develop a portrait in 5 steps following specific guidelines. They will learn graphite pencil drawing techniques such as shading and hatching to create three dimensionality in their portrait as well as realistic fur and hair! This drawing class is designed for students aged 8 to 13 as we channel our heartfelt love for our four-legged friend, supporting us every day. Throughout the class, participants are also encouraged to share their own experiences with their horse or pet animals as we acknowledge the little spirits that support us each day of our lives! Students will also learn about the different pencils that are used in sketching. As a teacher I will provide ample opportunity for learners to ask questions during drawing instruction. Portrait work is considered one of the highest forms of art and it requires practice and precision. It is my hope to instill a love for drawing in your learner. Perhaps they may even discover a new drawing journey into the world of pet portraiture!
