In this course, students will learn how to better communicate by learning about the process involved in effective communication, how to express themselves using spoken and written words, learn to understand nonverbal body language and how important listening skills are in effective communication. Week 1Lesson 1Process of Communication• Learner will complete a lesson study guide. • Video lesson – What is Communication? • Video lesson – Barriers to Communication • Learner will complete an activity pertaining to what they learned in the lesson.Week 2Lesson 2Verbal Communication• Learner will complete a lesson study guide. • Video lesson – What is Verbal Communication? • Video lesson – 6 Effective Verbal Communication Skills • Learner will complete an activity pertaining to what they learned in the lesson.Week 3Lesson 3Non-Verbal Communication• Learner will complete a lesson study guide. • Video lesson – What is Non-verbal Communication? • Video lesson – 7 Types of Non-Verbal Communication Skills • Learner will complete an activity pertaining to what they learned in the lesson.Week 4Lesson 4Listening Skills• Learner will complete a lesson study guide. • Video lesson – 2 Types of Listening • Video lesson – Non-Verbal Signs that aid in Active Listening • Video lesson – Verbal Signs that aid in Active Listening • Learner will complete an activity pertaining to what they learned in the lesson. • Assessment in the form of an end of course quiz will be completed.
