Welcome to class! This class is an engaging and interactive program designed to explore the world of filmmaking. Through fun activities and hands-on projects, learners will explore storytelling, camera techniques, editing, and more, while fostering their creativity and imagination. Participants will create their own film script and materials to pitch to hot shot investors, in hopes to score the funding they need for their amazing film! Participants can expect to spend anywhere from 1-3 hours per week outside of class shooting and editing their film. Teacher Kate is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and she will guide aspiring young filmmakers through the intricacies of scriptwriting, teaching them how to craft compelling narratives that captivate audiences. They'll explore the art of creating props, casting actors, and managing logistics, gaining hands-on experience in bringing their stories to life. Throughout the camp, collaboration will be key as teens work together in virtual teams, pooling their talents and ideas to overcome challenges and prepare to turn their visions into reality. Kate also offers 1:1 filmmaking sessions! REFUND POLICY: Hub of Curiosity wants parents and caregivers to be able to enroll in our classes with peace of mind. We are busy parents as well and understand that life happens! The refund policy for Hub of Curiosity classes is as follows: Semester-length co-ops are fully refundable until 30 days prior to the start of class. Withdrawing 15-30 days prior to the start of the co-op will result in a 70% refund. 14 days before the start date, the class is non-refundable. Fixed-length classes (ex: meets 4x or 6x) are fully refundable until 14 days prior to the start of class. 14 days before the start date, the class is non-refundable. Teacher Kate (she/her): Kate is an accomplished filmmaker and passionate bookworm. She has taught learners between the ages of 2 and 15 abroad in both Germany and Japan. Kate has a wide foundation of teaching experience from teaching middle schoolers to teaching English as a second language in Tokyo. She varies her teaching style to meet learners where they are and modulates her approach to suit all neurotypes. She brings a sense of calm to the classroom that provides an ideal environment for learners to thrive. Her teaching style is clear, passionate, and supportive.
