I have been teaching Spanish in a public school for 5 years. I taught middle school and high school Spanish levels I and II. I have also taught 1 year of ESL in public school, and have been teaching English online for the past 6 months. In my Spanish classes I strive to make the content as engaging as possible in order to encourage student participation. My lessons always incorporate story-telling because I want students to see and hear how language is used in context, rather than deconstructing the language through grammar concepts. My "movie talks" as my students call them are some of my most popular lessons (and the most fun to teach), and I am excited to bring them to the Outschool platform.
At the end of the lesson, I will provide a follow-up written version of the story so that students can get additional reading practice. I have a multi-level reading with a beginner, mid, and advanced version of the story. Students will receive all three versions so that they can gradually increase their reading comprehension skills.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will refer to the short film "Wildebeest" readily available via Youtube. Please don't show it to your student ahead of time! The suspense of the film, and not knowing the plot ahead of time is highly engaging for them.
