US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
👋In this fun one-time class for 3-6-year-olds, we will learn and review shapes, colours, and numbers 1-10 using play-doh. There is no experience or previous knowledge necessary, come as you are! I strongly believe in making learning interactive, fun, and personal for each child in my class. This hands-on class will have learners make their own shapes and numbers with play-dough alongside other students. 😊 We will learn about basic shapes such as a square, triangle, rectangle, circle, and diamond. Learners will need play-doh and toothpicks. We will make the play-doh into balls and use the toothpicks to make shapes. We will also review and count from numbers 1-10 using our fingers, body, and play dough including counting the different sides of each shape and how many tooth picks we need to make each shape. Each learner will have an opportunity to share their shape creations with the class! Grab your play-doh and toothpicks and come have fun! I will use PowerPoint Slides to show the different shapes and numbers on the screen and show demonstrations live on my camera. A printable sheet will also be provided upon enrollment for learners to bring with them in class (it is recommended you place the printed sheet in a plastic sleeve so the play-doh doesn't stick). The activity sheet, however, is optional and can be used for further exploration after class. I can't wait to see your learner in class!
Learning Goals
Learners will learn how to identify and make basic pre-school level shapes such as a circle, square, triangle, and rectangle as well as count from 1-10!

Teacher expertise and credentials
👋Hello Learners and Families!👋
My name is Teacher Kayla and I am a preschool teacher with a passion for early growth and development!
I believe every child is unique, capable, and full of potential. I love teaching young children and have a passion for teaching ASL, the preschool curriculum, and Montessori practices. I also am excited to teach movement and cooking classes to learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Within my teaching philosophy, I strongly believe in play-based and inquiry-based learning and strive to incorporate movement, songs, stories, crafts, games, and manipulatives into all my teachings. I love finding ways to make learning fun, meaningful, and engaging for each student and fostering a love for lifelong learning at a young age!
I am from Canada and have completed my B.A in Early Childhood Studies which provided me a strong understanding of the whole growth of the child from various developmental lenses. I have over 9 years of experience teaching children in both an in-person and digital format in a kindergarten classroom, EarlyON family center, toddler classroom, and Sunday school. I have worked at various arts, science, and sports summer camps for over 8 years as a camp counselor, camp coordinator, and camp director, and also have been a soccer coach for age 9/10 girls for the past 4 summers.
I will offer a variety of one-time and ongoing classes in order to focus on all developmental domains for early childhood. No matter that class, you can be sure that my classes will be lots of fun, super engaging, and high energy!
Thank you for reading! I feel so lucky that I get to teach what I love every day. I am so excited to be a part of your child's growth and success; I look forward to seeing them my the classroom! 😄

📋Class Policies:
1) If a class is small or has especially talkative students, we may end a little earlier or later, but I will always try to end on time.
2) If a scheduled class does not meet the minimum enrollment, I will contact the parent before class time to offer to transfer their learner to a new day and time. If requested, I may choose to teach the class at the original time.
3) Classes will begin on time, even if all learners are not yet present in the classroom. To respect the time of the learners in the class, I will contact absent learners after class to see if they had technical issues or other challenges.
4) If no learners are present in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes into the scheduled time before exiting the classroom.
5) If I am late because of having technical challenges myself, I will offer to stay late or transfer learners to a new session.
6) I expect learners to treat each other kindly in class and to show respect for everyone present. I treat others the way I want to be treated, and I expect the same in return.
