Participants will primarily learn game rules and basic strategies. In addition, one of the greatest benefits of playing games is the excellent practice you get at becoming both a good winner and a good loser.
I have played literally thousands of hours of games in my family of seven. I've taught dozens of games to teens in my work as a Teen Center Director for my local Boys & Girls Club, so I know good ways to explain rules and help everyone feel comfortable, whatever their speed of learning.
No experience necessary!
Optional: One deck of any playing cards (standard deck, Uno, Phase 10, SkipBo, etc). The last five minutes of each meeting, we will have shuffling practice for anyone wanting to learn how to shuffle like a pro.

We may cover some games that are traditional gambling games, like Poker, Blackjack, etc. If we do, we will only use fake "money" in the form of virtual chips. Everyone will always start with the same number of chips; there will be no way to buy or gain more chips than any other person. I strongly discourage ever gambling for money for any reason, and will repeat this theme throughout the group meeting. These games are fun to play, but gambling money is never a good idea!
