US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Please join me for a DINOmite learning adventure. In this one-time class, students will explore and practice early literacy concepts - Dinosaur style. This class is engaging and interactive. Students are more than welcome to come dressed up as a Paleontologist or in their favorite Dinosaur gear. Students will practice Identifying rhyming words, counting syllables in words, and stretching out, writing, and blending sounds in CVC words. Students will learn by moving, hands-on activities, through fun visuals, and having fun! Dino Rhyme Time Together, we will look at Dinosaurs holding pictures on a Powerpoint created by the teacher. We will discuss what rhyming words are and students will share examples. Students will find and color a picture on their handout provided by the teacher that rhymes with the given word. Dino Stomping Syllables Together, we will look at pictures and discuss syllables in those words. Students will get up and get moving by stomping the number of syllables in each word. Digging CVC words Together, we will look at pictures of CVC words. We will work on segmenting and blending those sounds. Using sand in a shallow box/container and a paintbrush, students will write the beginning, middle, and ending sounds for each CVC word. This is to make writing more fun for the learner. If you do not have access to these supplies, your learner can write on a dry erase board or on a piece of paper. This course is designed for learners that have a basic knowledge of letters and letter sounds. Throw on your Paleontologist hat, grab your favorite Dinosaur toy, and let’s learn to read like a Dinosaur!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Emily. I have been married for 7 years. We have two precious boys. I have had a passion for teaching since I was a little girl. I was the kid that lined up her dolls and gave them homework.
I received my B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Gordon College in 2012. I received my M.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in 2015. I have 7 years of formal classroom experience. I spent 1 year teaching in Pre-K and I taught Kindergarten for 6 years. I am currently an online ESL teacher to students across the world.
My number one goal is for my students to leave my classroom feeling more enriched than when they entered. I believe learning should be relevant and fun. I am a huge believer in play-based learning. I believe hands-on learning sparks creativity and enriches the imagination. I have a passion for teaching beginner math and literacy skills. I enjoy teaching around themes that are interesting and make students excited about learning.
I offer a wide variety of classes. My classes will teach and enhance beginner math and literacy skills, while also sparking the imagination through intentional play. I love to incorporate crafts, songs, movement, and even edible "crafts" to make learning more concrete. My classroom will always be inviting, interactive, and engaging. I am so excited to meet your child. I cannot wait to be apart of your child's educational journey!
Let's learn and have fun together.
