Have you ever wanted to learn to play guitar? Here you will learn an introduction to beginners guitar chords. Learn how to properly tune your guitar and play the G, C, and D chords. With these chords you can play nearly any song you choose!

Students will begin with a brief introduction and explain why they wanted to learn to play guitar. Teacher will then demonstrate how to properly tune a guitar, show multiple sites/apps students could use, as well as how a traditional guitar tuner works. Students will then have time to tune with assistance from teacher if needed. Students will then be shown how to properly hold a guitar and play a G chord. Correct finger placement will be demonstrated as well as shown on a document given to students. Teacher will show and play the chord, then practice with students. The process will be repeated to learn the C chord. Once students have practiced, students will be shown how to transition from G chord to C, and C chord back to G. Process will be repeated again to learn the D chord. Then learn how to transition from G to D, D to G, C to D, and D to C. Finally students will show they can play all three chords. Document with correct finger placements will be given to students for them to keep for practice after class has ended.

Students will be able to demonstrate the G C and D chords on a traditional 6 string guitar

Students will need a guitar with all 6 strings, a guitar tuner and/or a smart device to download a tuning app

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach coding, 3D design and modeling, architecture, practical money management, and guitar classes.
I have been a teacher in a public school system for more than 10 years. I am a certified mathematics and science teacher for grades 5-9. I have two additional Masters degrees in educational leadership.
During my time as an educator I have taught 6-8 math, science, and a variety of STEM classes. Those STEM classes include robotics, computer animations and gaming, website design, 3D design and modeling, and architecture.
I have a passion for also teaching content that I am highly interested in and feel that it is beneficial to learn at any age! I love teaching about practical money management (a skill I wish I was taught about when I was younger), and the basics of chords on guitar. These are really fun classes that all of my students have thoroughly enjoyed as much as I have!
I truly believe that every student has the ability to learn. I look forward to growing your students interests in any of my offerings that they choose!
