Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
In this flex course, learners will learn 4000 words to help with their writing. Classes will include a range of skills including speaking, listening, reading and writing. ESL Friendly - Suitable for B1 and B2 Learners.

Why learn words?
Vocabulary is key to comprehension. Learners cannot understand what they are reading or hearing without knowing what most of the words mean. As children learn to read and engage in more advanced texts and conversations, they must learn the meaning of new words that are not part of their oral vocabulary.

What will the classes entail?
Each week comes with a teaching video and activity sheets to be completed during and after class. Learners are encouraged to post their completed work to the classroom. Classes are interactive and our teaching style is dynamic and engaging.

What's your teaching style?
We are a team of experienced teachers who are calm, patient and supportive whilst ensuring that the children are constantly learning. The environment will be dynamic and learners will actively participate throughout the class. As experienced teachers, we are capable of adapting my style to suit the learners.

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other?
Students will be active participants through a range of activities each week.

What kind of class is this?
This is a flex class.

What will be covered in each class?

Week 1 - The Farmer and the Cats
Week 2 - A Magical Book
Week 3 - The Big Race
Week 4 - Adams County's Gold

A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner. After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom.

Participation will include the Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practise and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays.

All materials are posted in the classroom by the end of Monday (UK time) each week. Learners are expected to interact in the classroom each week on the various posts in the required ways and complete the necessary tasks by Sunday each week. This is important as educational research shows that consistent interaction and feedback is necessary in order to create a quality learning experience. I want to ensure that students are given a rich learning experience, and not left to learn content on their own.

We look forward to being part of your learning journey!

Please don't hesitate to contact us for further information.
