In this introductory calligraphy course students will learn how to create fun fancy fabulous calligraphy using a regular classroom marker. This is a hands-on interactive course! We will be doing practice drills to warm up our hand and fingers. Students will be able watch as I demonstrate our practice drills and will be given time to practice each skill themselves during our class time. We will practice how and when to apply pressure to our markers to create fun fancy lettering. We will also cover topics such as what makes calligraphy different from handwriting or cursive and understanding letter forms and spacing. These fun practices will lead us into our end goal of stringing together letters to form words and sentences! This is a beginner course and you don't have to be a skilled artist to be an awesome calligrapher! Come letter with me!
Learning Goals
Once a learner understands the basics of calligraphy the possibilities for creating awesome hand-lettered words and phrases are endless!
Students will learn basic calligraphy techniques:
- What makes calligraphy different from handwriting and cursive
- How to add and release pressure from the marker at the appropriate times
- Letter forms: both uppercase and lowercase letters
- When to pick up and put down their marker
- How to string letters together to form words and sentences
My goal is to have your learner forming words and sentences that are fun and creative by the end of our 55min session. They will never see letters the same again- letters will become art!
*This would be a great place to start if students would like to learn traditional calligraphy with an ink dip pen.

Supply List
The only materials required for this course are - A regular classroom marker - A pencil - Paper: any kind will do, copy paper, lined paper, or construction paper would work great!
