In this 4-week Spanish course, learners will study greetings, introducing oneself, common phrases, numbers 1-20, and identifying Spanish-speaking countries.

Class Experience

Hola! This course is for beginning Spanish learners. 

Each learner will need a notebook that is used specifically as their Spanish Journal. 

Week 1 - a) How to greet others in Spanish (Hello, Good morning/evening/night, How are you?, I'm well, I'm so-so); b) Identifying Spanish-speaking countries; and c) Numbers 1-5

Week 2 - a) Review Week 1; b) Common phrases in Spanish (My name is, What's your name?, I'm from...., Where are you from?); and c) Numbers 6-10

Week 3 - a) Review Weeks 1 and 2; b) Common phrases in Spanish continued (Thank you, You're Welcome); and c) Numbers 11-15

Week 4 - a) Review Weeks 1, 2, and 3; b) Numbers 16-20; and c) End-of-Class Game

I will use a variety of strategies and techniques to keep learners engaged and interested! We'll learn using slides, short video clips, visuals, and games. 

Students will interact with each other and with me.  I'll do minimal talking (other than modeling pronunciation and polite error correction), as learners will be doing most of the talking to maximize language output and practice. 

My style is professional and serious, but also fun!   Vámonos, amigos!

I have over 20 years experience teaching Spanish and English. I LOVE teaching kids about the beautiful Spanish language and culture, through interactive lessons, photos, songs, slides, games, and storytelling! 

I'm certified to teach grades PK-12 Spanish, PK-12 English as a Second Language (ESL), and 6-8 English Language Arts. 

I have taught in the USA, Ecuador, and the Republic of Congo, at elementary, middle school, and university levels.  I've published 3 books: "Alba the South American Street Dog", "Learn Spanish with Pictures", and a "A Spanish Workbook for Kids".
