If you are looking for a way to stay active and learn something new then this is the class for you! In this three day camp we'll learn the rules of the game of field hockey, the equipment that is used and practice some basic skills needed for the sport. We'll start with images through Google slides and photos to gain a foundation about field hockey. Then we'll practice skills such as dribbling, passing, receiving and even air dribbling. I'll share some of my experiences as a player and a coach. I've spent 20 years involved with the sport of field hockey. At the end of our three classes you'll have some fun ways to practice on your own and improve your skills in field hockey. I will demonstrate the skills in my yard or garage depending on the weather. You'll want to find a space that will provide some room to move around with nothing close by that could get damaged. Whether field hockey is a common sport in your area or you are completely new to the game, I'm very excited to practice some basic hockey skills with you! Let's get moving and find a new way to be healthy and active. Class #1: Introduction to field hockey We will go over the rules, equipment, where it is played and begin with some dribbling exercises. Class #2: Dribbling and Passing This session will review basic dribbling and add some new exercises to refine the skill. I will also introduce passing techniques. Class #3: Receiving and Air Dribbling This session will discuss the best techniques used in receiving the ball and some ways to practice this skill. Air dribbling will also be introduced with a fun contest. Feel free to message me with questions or concerns about the class. If you don't see a time that works for you let me know and I'll see if we can come up with another class time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Social Studies/History
I've been playing field hockey since I was in 5th grade. During middle and high school I played on our school team and I participated in camps at different colleges. I was recruited to play field hockey in college where I had the chance to travel to Thailand with my team my junior year and served I as captain my senior year. After college I coached field hockey for 8 seasons including time as a middle school head coach, a varsity head coach and an assistant coach. My teams have ranged from a few, beginner players to large teams that won two district titles and a state title. I'm very passionate about the sport and living an active, healthy lifestyle. I hope to continue to spread the knowledge of field hockey to younger learners.
