Class Experience

This is a French Club class for older teens. I encourage the learners to speak French as much as possible. We will practise lots of basic conversations, so that the learners become confident to speak to native French speakers of a similar age using the TU form. Learners will ask each other questions as well as answering my questions. If learners would like to work on short pieces of drama and other activities, this will also be a possibility.
We will also practise speaking to unfamiliar adults in cafés, shops and other places using the polite VOUS form.
Each class will include speaking and listening exercises, with some reading and optional writing tasks.
Each class will include some information about life in France and other French speaking countries around the world, French culture and history.
I have lots of materials about places in France, including slides and video clips. When I am in France I will teach Walkabout classes from local towns, with the opportunity to go in to French shops, cafés etc and order items. We also play games such as Loto (Bingo), Pendu (Hangman) word searches etc.
Topics can be covered to reflect learners' interests.
I will be teaching some basic grammar in this class, with plenty of Real Life Conversations to practise the grammar points.
Students of all abilities and levels are very welcome in the class, but please note it is not a class for British or International A Level students who want to practise Themes etc.

Hi and Bonjour from the U.K. Thank you for looking at my profile and considering my classes for your children. I love teaching here on Outschool.

I am Kim Wark. I am English. I was born and brought up in London, but moved to Leeds for university and have lived in Yorkshire ever since.

1) I offer French classes to students of all ages and levels, from 4 year olds to 18 year olds, from Kindergarten to High School level. Classes may include singing, role play, storytelling and games. I have lived and worked in France and spend most school holidays there. I am looking forward to sharing my love of French with your child. When I am in France I teach classes from local places of interest.

2) I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education to teach French and English at secondary school (ages 11-18) and all subjects at Primary Level (ages 4-11).

I also have further qualifications in Special Educational Needs, including autism.

As part of my degree course I taught English for a year in a French school. I have taught pupils aged 3-18 in schools (state, private and Special Schools), students aged 16+ at Colleges and tutored individual students. Here on Outschool I teach students from around the world.

I home-schooled my younger son, who is autistic and has learning difficulties, for 8 years. I discovered the Montessori method and it worked really well for him. I have used a Montessori approach with pupils, including those with SEND.

3) My philosophy has always been to help children do their very best. I have been privileged to teach some amazing children who have made progress beyond what was predicted for them. I was thrilled to celebrate their success with them.

4) When I was about 5 years old my mum took me to a Horse Show because our late queen, Elizabeth II, was attending. Apparently, I piped up in the loud, clear voice of a 5-year-old, 'Mummy, where is the Queen?' She was standing right in front of me, but I didn't recognise her because she wasn't wearing her crown!!! So embarrassing!!!
