Rather than give you a specific schedule, I will give you a summary of the topics we can cover. This 1:1 class is designed for flexibility to meet a student's specific needs.

Students may bring their own resources, such as textbooks from class, if they already have something to work with. However, the resources I have prepared for you otherwise will be as follows:
-Elementary School: "Getting Started with Latin" by William Tinney
-Middle School: "Ecce Romani"
-High School: Lingua Latina per se Illustrata

Conversational Latin: We will learn basic phrases for how to talk with each other.

Verbs: We will work on verbs in the following categories
-Person: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
-Number: singular or plural
-Voice: active or passive
-Tense: present, imperfect, future, perfect, pluperfect, future perfect
-Mood: indicative, infinitive, imperative, subjunctive, participle

Nouns: We will work on nouns in the following categories
-Case: Nominative (subject), Genitive (possessive), Dative (indirect object), Accusative (direct object), Ablative (prepositions) and Vocative (direct address)
-Number: singular or plural
-Gender: masculine, feminine, or neuter

Translation: We will work on hearing and reading a Latin text with full comprehension. Beyond what most Latin classes will offer, we will build language fluency just like we would with a modern language.

After taking Latin in both high school and college, I have been tutoring Latin for the last five years and taught in school for the last two. My experience covers a broad age range from fifth graders to adults. I have also used several different learning methods between deductive grammar, the reading method, and the living language approach. I am personally more drawn to the living language approach, but incorporating the other two under that umbrella have been equally important. One high school client I tutored from the ground up has since gone on to pass the AP Latin exam, and I aim to do the same with your children.
