Class experience
In this highly interactive, five-week class that continues from the one-time class "Intro to Latin for Kids," students will continue to begin speaking the ancient language of Latin. Through lively discussions, vocabulary lists or flashcards (which I will provide), visuals, optional note taking, and imitating my speaking, students will continue to learn how to pronounce Latin and will generate simple sentences—some of them funny. I taught beginning elementary school Latin as part of my teaching career. I also created and taught a private extracurricular program in Latin and Latin roots for elementary school-ages students. I enjoy instilling self-confidence and motivation in students to learn unfamiliar material in ways that are relevant to their familiar, everyday lives. This involves a combination of discovery, discussion, and practice, with an age-appropriate sense of humor. Establishing a low-risk atmosphere and a comfortable rapport, I enjoy connecting with each individual learner, valuing the unique interests, strengths, and eager curiosity the students bring to class.
