Class Experience

This class will introduce elementary students to the Latin language as well as Roman society. We will also touch on Roman mythology while learning how to do as the Romans did. Students will use Latin for Children Primer A book during this class. Students get a great introduction to the language and culture which engages them beyond the classroom. Learning Latin is manageable even for children with parents with no Latin background.

Each week students will be introduced to new Latin words and grammar. Students will need to make note cards to help with the memorization of new words. Students will have their homework checked by the teacher each week. In between classes, students will have worksheets to complete as well as quizzes to turn in. Students will also be given a few projects to help them further absorb the Latin language into their English studies.

This class will have one meeting a week. During the week students will be expected to complete homework. Homework is to be complete by the student on their own between classes. There is a worksheet in the textbook for students to complete. Students will also be given a conjugation practice worksheet and Latin translation page to complete each week as well for homework. Students will also need to complete and turn in the weekly quiz.

There are 32 chapters in this book and this class will cover the second 8 chapters. Parts 3 - 4 will follow after part 2.

Class 1 will cover 2nd Declension Neuter Nouns
Class 2 will be a review chapter reviewing the first 9 chapters
Class 3 will cover adjectives
Class 4 will cover more adjectives
Class 5 will be a review of the first 12 chapters
Class 6 will focus on 2nd Conjugation Verbs
Class 7 will cover sentence patterns
Class 8 will work on the imperfect tense

Please make sure your student has covered chapters 1 - 8 either with me or elsewhere before taking this section.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Back in the day, I taught Latin at a Classical Model School. I'm currently teaching another Latin curriculum, Minimus, that is great for young learners who have never been exposed to learning another language before.
