In this ongoing class, students will create unique landscape paintings, guided by an experienced artist, in a friendly, social setting

Class experience

One small to medium-sized canvas (perhaps 8x10 or 16x12 inches) per week
Some kind of palette. I use a paper plate, and it works just fine.
Recommended brushes:
A few small flat brushes, recommended sizes: 2, 6, 10
   Script brush
Check out other brushes -- you don't know what you like until you've experimented. You may find some useful oil painting brush sets.
Paints:
Titanium white (I recommend strongly AGAINST flake white, because it's a lead-based paint)
   Black (ivory or lamp black)
   Prussian blue and/or French ultramarine
Red. I like to have Indian red, permanent red, and both cadmium red medium and deep, but you may choose to go with just one. (Check out what they have in your local store, and see what colors you like.)
Green such as oxide of Chromium and/or sap green
Yellow Ochre (also check out the other yellows, like the various cadmium yellow varieties, particularly for oil paints)
Burnt Umber and/or VanDyke brown (I typically use VanDyke)
Any other colors you see and like.
Paint thinner for oil painting(I recommend Mona Lisa brand)
Small palette knife -- blade of about an inch. Shape should be spade, diamond, or similar.
