Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
I am a special education teacher with a master's degree in undergraduate studies in fashion design. I started studying this discipline when I was 12-years-old, many moons ago. Ever since, I have been designing outfits and decorating homes. My last project was to refurnish my own living room furniture. During my studies, I participated in multiples fashion shows. It was an unforgettable experience. The design, the fabric, the publicity, the modeling, the choreography, the lights, the exposure… It exiting months! Some of my teaching years, I organized a club where the members designed and sew their own clothing in preparation for fashion shows. They were part of competitions where two of the students won the first prize. Spectacular!

For this class, we will start with a pillowcase because it is simple enough to introduce you to the sewing machine and some sewing, which will be helpful in other projects.

I am a special education teacher with a master's degree in undergraduate studies in fashion and interior design. I started studying this discipline when I was 12-years-old, many moons ago in the now-disappeared class, Home Economics. My father saw my skills, although I did not recognize them, and bought me a Kenmore sewing machine in Sears! I took some classes in the store to know how to handle the machine. Ever since I have been sewing fashion and decorating homes. My last project was to refurnish my own living room furniture. I created a club where the members, included my daughter, designed and sew their own clothing in preparation for fashion shows. They were part of the competition where my daughter and the other student won the first prize. Now my daughter is the designer of the family. Spectacular! For this class, we will start with a pillowcase because it is simple enough to introduce you to some sewing skills which will be helpful in other projects. The designs will be age appropriate and will not reflect any offensive pictures.
