Learners will discover the history of Japanese kumihimo. Learners will advance their kumihimo braiding skills while making 5 bracelets. Learners will use problem-solving skills to solve mistakes when making their kumihimo bracelets. Learners will express their creativity with their colour choices.

Homework Offered
Learners will be expected to finish making their bracelets after every class meeting. The first five minutes of the next class will be for those learners who want to share their finished bracelets from the previous class. Each kumihimo bracelet in this camp typically take between 1-4 hours to complete.4+ hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will be watching the learners throughout the class. I will offer assistance, positive encouragement, and helpful feedback as they work on their bracelets.Grades Offered
Materials in this camp are scaffolded and build throughout the week. This camp is intended for beginners and no previous experience is required.
Learners will require these materials for this class: - embroidery floss (minimum of 4 colours, but more colours will make the bracelets different) - scissors - light coloured cardboard or thick card stock - plate or other circular object that be traced around (approx 4-5" in diameter) - pencil and thin marker (any colour) - tape measure or ruler - 1 binder clip - paper clip (optional)
Learners will use scissors in this class.
