Class Experience

Beginner Level
In this private Korean class tailored for beginners, students will embark on a journey into the Korean language. This course is designed for individuals eager to embark on a structured journey into the Korean language, using the Seogang Korean Textbook as our guide. This class is for beginners only.

Class Overview:

Individualized Learning: With a one-on-one teaching approach, each session will be customized to the learner's pace and specific needs, ensuring optimal understanding and progress.

Introduction to Hangul: The class will start with learning Hangul, the Korean alphabet. Students will learn the fundamentals of reading, writing, and pronunciation.

Building Core Skills: Subsequent units will focus on fostering proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Through a systematic progression of lessons, students will gradually enhance their communication abilities.

Textbook: The Seogang Korean Textbook 1A will serve as the primary resource for structured learning, supplemented by the corresponding workbook exercises to reinforce comprehension and retention.

Class Structure:

Each session will be thoughtfully structured to incorporate a balanced blend of instructional content, hands-on activities, and practice exercises. Since it is one on one, we will move at the learners pace with a lot of teacher-student interaction. I always start class by asking students if they have any questions about the homework and we can go over their answers if requested. Then, we spend the rest of the hour working on the main lesson.

Textbook Notes:

If you are planning on buying any of the books for this class(not required, just optional to buy), I recommend buying the Student Workbook BEFORE you buy the Student Book/Textbook. If you have an Ipad or a drawing tablet, you don't have to buy anything and can screenshot the PDF of the books I send you and write on them. I will supply a PDF of the Workbook and Student Textbook so you can look at both but I recommend buying just the workbook and using the textbook online to save money.

If you want to buy both, the class uses Seogang Students Book 1A and Workbook 1A.

Hello Parents and Students!

My name is Maya and thank you for your interest in my class!
From 2021-2023 I was lucky enough to have lived in Korea for 2.5 years, during which I learned much about the language and culture through working in a Korean school, studying Korean language, and daily life.
Working and studying in Korea provided me with invaluable opportunities to deepen my understanding of the Korean language, culture, and people.
Learning and living in Korea was one of the most enriching experiences in my life, so now I want to help spread Korean language and cultural knowledge to more people. I hope to see you in class! :)
Currently, I only teach beginner students.
