In this class, students will continue to develop the knitting skills they learned through the classes "Knitting Class. Learn to Knit, Purl, and More, Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4." ***Please note!*** This is NOT a beginning knitting class. It is recommended that students complete Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this series in order to be successful in this class. In this class, students will be learning how to use and perfect circular knitting techniques. This class will be set up like a workshop. Students will see a demonstration of each step, and then students will work on the step with Mrs. Borton's help. A printed pattern will be provided for each project. Week 1 - Students will learn how to knit a neck warmer with choices of cables, seed stitch, or ribbing, using a circular needle. Week 2 - Students will continue working on the neck warmer. Week 3 - Students will learn how to use double point needles to create a can cozy, while changing colors. Week 4 -Students will continue to work on the can cozy. Week 5-6-Students will work on cabled fingerless mittens using double point needles. Some students work more quickly than others, so bonus projects will be available for all students. Bonus projects: gloves, socks, pocket pals, hat Learner supply list (also under "Learner supply list" tab) A printed handout will be provided for the patterns. The patterns were developed by Mrs. Borton and are unique to this class! Students should pick yarn that they love in a solid color and a smooth texture. Yarn can be wool, acrylic, or a wool-acrylic blend. *A size 4 yarn and a size 7 or 8 needles will work well for the patterns provided. *A size 5 yarn and size 9 or 10 needles would work well for the neck warmer. *A cable needle is recommended for this class, but Mrs. B will be demonstrating how to do a cable WITHOUT using a cable needle. *Double point needles in the size of your regular needles. *Circular needles in a 16" length in the size of your regular needles *Scissors *A yarn needle (These are often plastic and if you loom knit, they come with that.)

Parental Guidance
Students will be using knitting needles and scissors, both of which may be sharp. Younger students should be supervised.
