Class Experience

Knit at home while chatting with other knitters. Knitters will get help with their projects, learn new techniques, and get ideas for items they can knit.

Students will share their knowledge and their projects with other knitters. There will be time for students to "show and tell" what they have been working on, already completed projects, or what they want to knit next.

This is an inclusive class - all knitters are welcome. Help will be provided to students to find a project to knit using only the yarn and needles they have on hand at home.

This class will offer students a time to focus on knitting, chat with others, get knitting help and have fun during what may be a stressful time for many.

Other Details

Supply List
Needles, yarn and a desire to knit with others!

Help will be given to learners trying to find a new project with only the needles and yarn they have at home. It may be hard to get the materials needed to start a new project, and I don't want that to prevent anyone from knitting. But if you have some yarn, and some needles at home, I have expertise and experience in finding knitting projects for students, and will work with students to find a fun new pattern they can knit.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I offer classes in arts and crafts as well as English, Creative Writing, Social Emotional Learning, Career Planning and Media Studies. My work is inspired by Waldorf, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and unschooling.

I am a mother to 3 always homeschooled children, now almost all grown up. I attended Waldorf schools from the time I was 7 and graduated from a Waldorf high school in Canada. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature, Religion, Film and Media Studies, and a diploma in Special Education. I am studying Counseling Psychology in graduate school. I have spent almost 20 years working with a diverse range of children and families.

I am flexible, caring and creative. I have always enjoyed working with children, starting off babysitting as a teen, working at summer camps and tutoring while in high school. After having children, I found that I loved being with them and learning together, and so we homeschooled from the start. It has been almost 20 years now, and we still love learning together.

I currently work as a tutor and education assistant for home learning families, while completing Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, Canada.

I love writing, making art, and learning new things. I value mutual respect and life long learning. As an out of the box thinker, I encourage conversations, curiosity and creativity.

I aspire to make learning fun, interactive and engaging for all learners. I live near the ocean and the mountains, with my husband, our 3 children, 2 curious cats, and one very old dog.
