Each of the first five units introduces one of the short vowel sounds. Then students will be guided to that short vowel CVC word family. Through a series of printable and digital games and activities, your child will master CVC blending. In the final Unit 6, students will review some applicable CVC words, then independently read three short CVC word stories and test their comprehension. Lesson 1:
Pre-Assessment
An assessment worksheet will be provided for students to complete unassisted.
Lesson 2:
Introduction to Short E
Students will watch a fun song video about the short vowel E, play a digital game, and complete a fun worksheet.
Lesson 3:
Sounding out each CVC letter!
Students will complete a color path activity: color the letter sound to spell the picture word!
Lesson 4:
Short E Word Family
Read the ed, en, and et word family, complete a word search printable, and play a digital drag-and-drop game matching the word family words to their pictures.

This course is stair-stepped so that any student with struggles can enjoy each part of the course without feeling overwhelmed.
