Pre-reading skills are important for kindergarten students so that they can be ready to read. In this class, we will be building phonemic awareness through alphabet practice, count syllables, phonological awareness, segmenting and blending words.  This class focuses on phonics study and skills so that they can help your child be able to read. The goal is to help early readers to reach their full potential through a variety of activities that will keep them engaged, focused, and motivated.
      We will begin our class with reviewing the alphabet and their sounds.  This skill is crucial because it uses motor memory learning that is associated with letters and their sounds.  In this class, there will be a formal schedule which includes daily drills, phonological awareness, and phonics study. We will reinforce  pre-reading skills with activities designed to help students be ready to read in kindergarten. It is helpful if the students know their letters and sounds in this class.
        This class is designed to foster a love for reading and give them confidence in learning to read.
