Kindergarten Prep Course (Ongoing)

In this ongoing class, students will learn everything they need to know to have a successful beginning in Kindergarten from a real kindergarten teacher!  We will cover letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and practice fine motor skills.  Most importantly, your child will have many opportunities to socialize, make friends and practice valuable social skills such as following directions and taking turns.

During our Kindergarten Prep Course, we will cover math and reading with a focus on letter recognition and sounds (Aa-Zz), uppercase and lowercase letter formation, writing numbers (1-20), number recognition, counting, 2D shapes, and so much more!

Please note: This is an ongoing course that meets 2 times per week (Monday & Wednesday) and the Kindergarten Prep Course is 13 weeks in length, from start to finish. However, students may enter class AT ANY TIME.  I have listed a tentative schedule below so you can the order things will go in.

During each class, here is an idea of what we will be doing:

Learn a letter and number each day (with some letter and shape review days). Upon completion of the Kindergarten Prep Course (13 weeks) your learner will have discovered letters (A-Z) and their sounds, numbers (1-20) with multiple representations, 2D shapes and their attributes, along with many other skills.

✳️ whiteboard & dry erase marker (or sheet of paper & writing utensil)
✳️ colored paper plate with some salt or sugar (to use as a sand tray each class)
✳️ alphabet mini poster (provided resource--make sure to download)
✳️ math ten frame (provided resource--make sure to download)
✳️ math counters to use on your ten frame (beans, counters, mini erasers, etc.)

I do offer some downloadable resources upon enrollment that can be used to set up your classroom at home so your child can refer to the information, and other resources are tools that can be used during or after class.
