This class is meant to keep little brains thinking so that no knowledge is lost over the Summer. Students will practice early math concepts each week. We will be practicing counting to 50, writing and comparing numbers to 20, ten frames, number lines, and base 10. We will practice addition, subtraction, and word problems using both. We will sing math songs and even practice 2D and 3D shapes. They will learn the concepts of equality, more, and less. This class will cover a variety of skills. The class will keep students very engaged and having fun! There will be handouts each week to print before class for practice. I also use Google Slides and games to demonstrate concepts. This class will require active participation from learners. I will begin each class with a warm welcome, and a review of counting and 1:1 correspondence known as our 'warm-up'. This will be completed in a variety of ways, such as by asking and answering, songs, and games. This class will be conducted in a warm, fun, and interactive setting allowing the students to learn along with their peers. The class will begin with greetings. We will always have songs next. Each day we will watch songs that include: counting to 50, shapes, and a fun patterns video. Next, I will demonstrate concepts using Google Slide examples and games. Next, we will complete the attached worksheets together for hands-on practice. Students will have plenty of opportunities to talk with me and each other.
