Class Experience

This is a circle-time type class, where students are encouraged to talk and participate! We will be learning a different theme each week. The themes are listed below. All learning for that week will be focused on that theme. We will be learning different subjects that are related to the pre-kindergarten/kindergarten age such as: sight words, phonics, word families and math. The students will be able to have show and tell each week to become more involved in their learning! We will sing songs and have interactive discussion time about the theme. We will do a craft each week which correlates to our weekly theme.

Each day will be slightly different. However, there will be similar concepts in each class. We begin with introductions where every child can say their name and something different (their age, what they did that day, something they are excited about). Each child gets a turn to talk. We will learn a different sight word each week. We will do different activities to help us learn our sight word for the week. We will learn math concepts such as grouping, size, charts and addition. We will learn word families, rhyming and phonics. Each child will get called upon several times during class. It is not mandatory to talk during class, so if you child does not want to talk or is shy, there is no pressure to talk! However, there will be many opportunities to talk if your child wants to. We will learn about our theme throughout class. We end class by singing our goodbye song together.
