Ms. Stephanie has created this small, weekly ongoing Kindergarten art class based on her wildly popular 8 week Kinder Art classes. Each week Ms. Stephanie will lead students through a unique art lesson created to specifically help Kindergarten creatives understand what and who an artists are, learn about a variety of art and artists from around the globe, grow art making skills with a variety of artistic mediums, and begin to learn about the elements of art. Students will learn to create using a variety of mark making tools. Students will learn scissor safety and proper cutting technique. Students will learn appropriate language to identify art, artists and art making tools and techniques. Students will create in a fun, positive and kind environment increasing social skills.
Stephanie is a k-12 certified art educator and arts in healthcare profession who has been teaching children and working with dementia care residents for over 20 years. Creating fun, engaging art experiences that are age appropriate and confidence building is her specialty, she'll use these skills to bring art to life for your kindergartner!
Each week specific supplies will be uploaded to the classroom Sunday evening. Below is a general list of art supplies that are widely used in class. brightly colored construction paper mixed media paper watercolor paint tempera paint a variety of size and types of brushes (daubers, foam brushes, round or flat paint brushes) glue sticks glue bottle scissors crayons model magic or a dough made from a provided recipe washable markers chalk black permanent marker (I promise, I will teach them how to use this properly when needed) and if you're feeling very brave....glitter!
Parents please be aware scissor skills are part of the learning objectives in this class. Please ensure you are available and alert when scissors are being used. Art making can be messy, please ensure student work surfaces are well protected and students dress for mess.
