US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This ongoing course will meet 3x weekly. Students may start and stop the course at any time. Students with no prior pre-K or schooling experience may enter the course. We will meet for 45 minutes each class day to build the students Literacy and math skills to prepare for Kindergarten. Students will work in groups and independently. Slides will be used for games and activities. Some activities and games will not use slides. We will use dramatic play, reading comprehension, early reading skills (sight words, easy readers, phonics skills) to engage students while preparing them for school. Students will use math skills like values, sorting, greater and smaller, counting by 2's and 5's, ordering numbers, and recognizing patterns. Students will use math skills based on Singapore and Japanese Math standards (both rated top 5 in student math performance in the world). We will use games, activities and stories to complete math lessons. Each month students will have a worksheet packet available that is themed to our course lessons for download. This is included in the cost of the course and will supplement the students progress on the days we do not meet for class. I am excited to teach your student and strive to make our lesson time valuable. I have put in extensive time creating all curriculum, activities, handouts, and course information to make the most of our class time!
My background includes studying at Charter Oak State College, earning a TESOL from Glasgow University, Scotland, UK, and earning extensive teaching certificates from the TEXAS A&M Extension Program. I have previously lived in Tokyo, Japan for four years. During that time I completed the Defense Language Institute Korean and Japanese Programs. I have also attended the Cyber Institute of Korea for Korean language studies, Hanyang University and Yonsei University (located in Korea) for additional Korean language courses of study. I enjoy furthering my experience and continue to take additional courses to increase my knowledge in several subject areas.
My experience includes teaching Japanese culture and language, Korean culture and language, and English as a second language. I have also taught core subjects through homeschool co-op classes with classrooms of up to 20 students.
I currently own and operate an online K-6 school called Noble Homeschool Academy where homeschoolers participate in core subjects as well as foreign language, art, music, and book club. I have been teaching for fourteen years and hope to enjoy many more years of teaching!
I have experience with students in grades K-8. Creating engaging curriculum will open the mind of any reluctant learner. I enjoy watching my students find a new interest and love of learning with every class.
My extensive online teaching experience allows your student to enjoy an interactive environment even though we are virtual! My journey as a military spouse has taken my all over the world and I enjoy inserting the knowledge and experiences into educational content that children may not get to otherwise experience.
