In Kids' Social Club, students will get the chance to make friends with their peers in the class through conversation, games, and activities. This goal of this class is for kids to have a fun place to make friends and just be kids! #superstar Each class will follow a similar structure: 1. Check-In - We will do our check-in a few different ways. Sometimes we'll start by just asking "How are you doing?" Other times we will share our highs/lows from the week. Some weeks we will have a getting-to-know-you question for each learner to answer. 2. Conversation and Question Time - Students in Kids' Social Club will get a chance to ask their peers questions to get to know each other better and to practice conversation skills. This time might blend together with the check-in some weeks, as class discussions might be based around the getting-to-know-you questions or the learners' highs and lows from the week. 3. Activity - Each week in Kids' Social Club we will do an activity together, which could include Show and Tell, games, directed drawings, and more. Games we might play include: Scavenger Hunts, 20 Questions, Guess the Number, Bingo, Would You Rather, Pictionary, etc. Each week I will post in the classroom to let parents and learners know what the scheduled activity will be. ➡️ I prefer to keep learners unmuted, especially since this is a social class, however there may be times where I need to mute students due to background noise or other factors. On occasion I may mute the whole class so that everyone has a chance to hear the game directions or the person speaking. ➡️ Just a reminder that per Outschool policy only the registered learner can be on the camera, which means no adults or siblings can be on the screen. Thank you! ➡️ Since this is a social club, there does need to be at least 2 learners enrolled for class to take place. Thanks for your understanding. ➡️ The schedule for each week is listed below, but I will also post in the Outschool classroom each week letting families and learners know if there are supplies needed for the week. Teacher expertise and credentials
Minnesota Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello everyone! I am a former elementary teacher, teaching 5th grade for 2 years and 1st grade for five. I enjoy teaching children about reading and math through games, hands-on learning, and engaging activities. Airplanes, bracelet-making, and social clubs are some of the other topics I am passionate about teaching. Through my time in the classroom, I know that in order for kids to learn, they need to be engaged and having fun! This is why I bring games and activities to all of my classes, so that we can really enjoy our time together.
I still currently hold a K-6 Elementary Teaching License. I loved my time teaching in the classroom but just recently decided it was time for me to stay home with my own two children (ages 3 and 1.5). We are excited for all the adventures we are going to have together as a family, especially going to the zoo to see my favorite animal - giraffes!
