Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This is an ongoing class (private 1:1 tutoring session) where your child will work with an experienced certified teacher for extra help in reading. Since these are tutoring sessions, I am offering a couple of options for this class.

Option 1 ~ When you enroll your student, you may let me know where they are struggling (ex. reading comprehension or letter sounds) and I will spend our time together working on these specific strategies. You can enroll your child for 1 session per week (or two) until they have mastered the content.
Option 2 ~ You may use this class for homework help or for help with specific content that your child's teacher outlines on their progress reports or on their report card. You can let me know what their needs are and I will meet them there.

Here are some of the areas where students typically struggle in Reading (K-2):
* letter and sound recognition
* sight words
* reading fluency (we will read short stories together)
* story elements (characters, setting, problem, solution, main idea & key details)
* comprehension (this can include writing in response to reading which I can help with as well)
* phonics

I have 15+ years of teaching experience and I tutor privately in my community. I'd love to help your child succeed in reading!

Hello!
My name is Melissa Goebel and I am so excited to teach at Outschool! have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a certified teacher who has a passion for teaching Pre-K - 1st grade. I taught Kindergarten for 12 years in public school and for the past 3 years, I've taught virtually as well as in person at a homeschool co-op. I love teaching virtually and I have fun and creative ways to make learning fun and engaging online.
I live in Tampa Florida with my amazing husband and we are proud parents of a 13 year old boy named Jaden and a 10 year old boy named Justin who are both in middle school. We enjoy spending time in the water, at the beaches and in the natural springs found throughout our sunny state of Florida.
I am truly looking forward to continuing my love for all things Pre-K through 1st grade online and I can’t wait to meet your child!
Sincerely,
Ms. Melissa
