We will start with a brief introduction to DIY skin care by learning about the different common ingredients you can use as well as some general safety guidelines. This is will be lecture style but relaxed and entertaining. Learners with get to craft their own lip scrub, face scrub and body scrub. This is a hands-on class that will be fun, informative, and supportive of all kinds of learners! While we craft, we can chat, share tips and come up with other recipes. No knowledge or prior experience is needs, just a willingness to learn, listen and encourage each other.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about some basic at home ingredients they can use to craft all natural skin care products that are free from harmful chemicals and preservatives and which don't test on animals.
Students will gain first-hand experience with a variety of recipes and all natural ingredients.
Students will be able to create their own recipes based on what we do in class.

Parental Guidance
If your child has allergies to any of the materials (see below), just let me know and I will happily suggest substitutes. We will not be using the stove at all, though if your child brings coconut oil, it would be helpful if she/he/they can use the microwave.
Supply List
Please bring: - Sugar (best would be raw, unbleached sugar and brown sugar but any kind will do) - Course Salt (best would be sea salt or kosher salt but even table salt will work) - Baking soda - Oil (some of my favorites are coconut oil, jojoba oil and sunflower oil, but even olive oil is fine) - Honey (any kind) - Vanilla extract - Three small sealable containers: these can be small jars, plastic tupperware or even zip locks. I like to reuse jam jars. - Spoon and bowl for mixing - Pencil/pen and paper to record recipes Optional (and fun) - Essential oils for scent - Apple cider vinegar (though any other vinegars besides balsamic will also work) - Dried herbs like rosemary, lavender, sage or mint
