Class Experience

Students will learn how to follow step by step directions, mathematical skills through measuring ingredients and doubling recipes, exposure to the chemistry of ingredients reacting together, creativity and exploration of flavors, problem solving skills if there is a potential issue with the kitchen equipment or how a recipe was measures or prepared and increase their culinary vocabulary. Cooking and preparing food for oneself is one of the most basic essential life skills that anyone can learn.
I have a Culinary Art certificate and worked in the industry for over 15 years. I currently teach cooking classes at my kids elementary school.
Homework will be to either repeat the recipe given out or to find a similar recipe and try it out. Take a photo of the dish created and post it in the classroom. Students will give feedback on each others photos in an encouraging and constructive manner.
I will provide the recipe and the student will need to purchase the food for the recipe. A list of ingredients will be posted in the classroom a few days before each class begins.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
